Spring has definitely sprung and the songbirds are back. The sounds and smells of the season are most welcome. April is definitely a very busy month, be sure to check the calendar on page one. It is also time for cleanups, and that includes the Center storage. Groups check Marsha’s article for details. Happy Easter to all!
April is bittersweet for many of us It is the month that two of our popular events will end for the season. LOU will be ending on April 27. This month features Taco Salad on the 6th, Brats and potato salad on the 13th, Grilled burgers and the works on the 20th, and finally potluck casseroles by you on the 27th.
Our final Friday night dinner will be held on April 29 and will be headed by the one and only Ted Bare and his team. Once again, this is by reservation only. To reserve your spot contact Mary [email protected] or 509-290-3340. Cut off date for reservations is Monday the 25th.
Both programs have been well attended and appreciated but they couldn’t have happened without dedicated people organized by Mary Owen. Her cooking skills were enjoyed by all and she was able to organize guest chef’s for LOU who wowed us all. Once again, her skills were featured in the Friday evening dinners doing much of the cooking and organizing other cooks to round out the roster.
There are certainly many to thank and the list is extensive, but I would remiss not to extend a special thanks to Larry Mattson. I cannot think of one lunch or dinner that he has not managed to set up most of hall for the incoming diners as well as helped with the take down and clean-up. I know he does many more things for other groups. So, BLESS AND THANK YOU LARRY!
Other highlights for the month are the BCC men’s breakfast at 8 on April 2nd, followed by the annual meeting of the LPOYC at Noon. The Bible Church is having a special training session on Saturday the 9th at 7am. This month the Chamber is bringing back their famous Chili Cookoff on Tuesday the 12th starting at 6pm with the regular meeting to follow. The Chamber will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt in the gardens on Saturday the 16th at 10:30am. Help is needed at 9:30 to hide the “thousand†eggs. Later that Saturday the Center will be sponsoring its Spring DUCKY RACE, at 4pm. The ducks will be released on 5th street at the creek and race ends on 6th street. To rent your racing duck, contact Joy Shantz at [email protected]. Weather permitting, the Bible Church will hold an outdoor Easter Service on the 17th at 9:30am in the upper parking lot of the Center.
